My plan with this blog is to post videos of what I am learning through the Scriptures. I simply read a chapter of the Bible and meditate on it. Then I turn on the webcam and share my thoughts. My desire is to feed the flock of God and lead people to a closer relationship with the Great Shepherd.
The name of this blog comes from the the two basic tools of the shepherd, the rod and staff, that are used to protect, discipline, and guide the sheep.
The rod protects both shepherd and his flock in danger. It is also the tool he uses to discipline and correct any wayward sheep that insists on wandering away. Another use of the rod is to examine and count the sheep. In the Old Testament this was referred to as passing "under the rod."
The staff is used to guide sheep down a path or through a gate or along dangerous, difficult routes. The crook of the staff is used to reach out and catch individual sheep, and draw them close for safety or close examination. Finally, the shepherd leans on the staff for support and strength.
